WHAT DO DRYER SHEETS DO?
Essentially, dryer sheets are coated with fabric conditioners and relaxants, fragrance, waxes, and other chemicals that when heated up in the dryer with your clothing is deposited on your clothing. That is how dryer sheets make your clothes smell good, feel soft, and come out of the dryer wrinkle free.
WHY OPT FOR ALTERNATIVES TO DRYER SHEETS?
Like I mentioned above, dryer sheets contain a lot of additives that make your clothes the way we have all been trained to think they should be…soft, clean smelling and wrinkle free.
And I get that. I want my clothes to be all those things too. But I was not willing to put my kids at risk for Asthma, skin conditions, and cancer just for those thing.
I promise that my alternatives will give you what you want from your laundry WITHOUT the harmful chemicals.
DRYER SHEET ALTERNATIVES THAT ARE SAFER FOR YOUR FAMILY
1. Distilled White Vinegar
Add distilled white vinegar to your washing machine just like you would a liquid fabric softener. This will remove all the detergents from your clothes which makes them feel softer.
***I linked to some distilled white vinegar above, but that brand is super expensive. I recommend actually just buying a gallon at your nearest Target, Walmart, Meijer, Kroger, or whatever the closest supermarket is to you. You should not have to pay over $2.00 for a gallon of vinegar that you are putting in yoru laundry.
2. Wool Dryer Balls
Wool Dryer Balls like these help soften and relax clothes so they are wrinkle free. They also speed drying time which will save you money.

3. Essential Oil Spritzer
Since dryer balls and vinegar don’t offer that smell you love, add your favorite essential oil blend to a spray bottle and then spritz your clothes when they come out of the dryer for that fragrance you love.
This fabric and room spray comes in many different scents such as lavender, mandarin orange, and lemongrass.
ENJOY YOUR CHEMICAL FREE CLOTHES
Now that you know a few dryer sheet alternatives, you will be able to sleep a little easier knowing that there are far less chemicals on your kid’s clothes.
